MacOS 10.13 High Sierra: New Language Features

So far I have found the following:

+One new system localization -- Hindi

+A nastaliq Arabic font for those who want to use this in Urdu or elsewhere

+New bilingual English dictionaries for Russian and Portuguese

+Caps Lock language switching now works for Greek, Cyrillic, and Armenian (not the case in Sierra)

I don't see any new spellcheckers or new language coverage via keyboards -- Lao and Amharic are still missing, even though Apple does provide fonts for these.

A language setting in the Format preferences, removed in Sierra, is still missing.

MacOS Siri cannot do translation like the iOS version can.

If readers find others, please comment.

Hindi localization is a pretty big deal.

I haven't upgraded yet, but I hope they fixed the keyboard switcher. Under Sierra, I cannot switch from English to Japanese and back again unless I switch applications. It's one of the most inconvenient bugs I've ever had to deal with as a translator.

Have not heard of anyone else with your japanese problem. Email me details regarding app involved and method being used to switch input. Tom at bluesky dot org

@Paul, I work with Japanese, English and French daily and easily moving from one keyboard to the other is *the* feature that makes me stick to Mac. I've never experienced your problem in any version of Mac I've ever used, so there must be something that keeps it from working on your system. Would you mind sharing your info if Tom has not solved your issue yet ? jean dot christophe dot helary at google mail
