Apple's recent preview of OS X 10.7 Lion does not mention any new language features, but some of the rumor sites like Macrumors and Appleinsider have published reports of a) Arabic system localization, b) voices for text-to-speech for languages other than English, and c) access to accented characters via a popup menu when a key is held down.
Update: A 4/8 report by Appleinsider indicates TextEdit will now have the vertical text layout capability considered important for Chinese and Japanese.
Lion is scheduled for release in the "Summer of 2011."

After some tests, here are my results:
a) I did not verified if there is Arabic new language
b) There is effectively optional plenty of new non English voices (generally 3 per languages) in the Text-to-Speech panel with an example for each saying "Hello, I am an 'language' voice" in local language, but we cannot upload them for now.
c) I don't know since I have a French keyboard :-)
It'd be nice if they had a Hebrew system localization too…
The final Lion is still months away, tell them what you want

I do Confirm I saw Arabic in there!
Seems so nice!
Can anyone confirm which version of Unicode is supported? 5.2? 6.0?
emissary -- I think it is probably technically 6.0. Of course the OS would not come with fonts that include all the characters of that version, you would have to add some of your own.
I hope so too, since I badly need 5.2 support for the Old Turkic script. Sounds like a good idea to be able to use different characters inside the OS.
emissary -- What kind of support do you need which is not already available in 10.6?

BTW, I can use Old Turkic script natively within Ubuntu, since it has support for 5.2, beginning with 10,04.
emirsari -- sorry, I lost your comment about filenames, etc., but I am sure that will be possible in 10.7.
