Typing Traditional Mongolian

I haven't got Vista yet, but I tested a final beta of Mongolian Baiti last year, and it was definitely not rendering complex Mongolian correctly. Although joining and ligatures were generally correct, and so simple Mongolian/Manchu words render correctly, there were problems with complex features of the script such as MVS, FVS1-3, NNBSP, contextual gender forms, etc. Hopefully the problems I saw have been fixed in the released version of Mongolian Baiti, but I'm still waiting to see.

You are talking here of the old Mongolian script, I presume?
Until OS 10.3.9 Apple hasn't made available a modern (Cyrillic with some extra characters) script. It's high time.

Yes, this article is about old/traditional Mongolian. As for Cyrillic Mongolian, OS X has always had the necessary characters in its fonts. A Mongolian Cyrillic keyboard layout can be found here:

I installed the Mongolian T layout and Manchu2005 on Mac OS X (10.4.10). In Finder, the keyboard viewer works okay, but in applications such as InDesign or TextEdit, I cannot select or view the layout or type in any characters. Could you kindly guide me on this issue...? I am new to the script, so any helpful leads will be much appreciated.

Sorry, I can't duplicate your problem. It all works fine in TextEdit (although this script cannot be displayed correctly in OS X in any case). Make sure TextEdit is in Plain Text mode, or if in Rich Text mode that you have selected the Manchu font via the font panel.

As for InDesign, I don't have it, but this app can't even do common things like Arabic and Hindi, so I would not be surprised if Mongolian did not work.

If you want Traditional Mongolian script on your website, Mongolfont isn't too bad. It even renders vertically in Safari and (although imperfectly) in Chrome.
