OS 10.9 Mavericks: New Language Features

So far I have the following:

+3 new system localizations:  Vietnamese, Malay, Indonesian (for a total of 33)

+11 new Arabic fonts

+New reference dictionaries:  Dutch, Italian, Korean, Korean-English, Chinese-English

+Certain voices can now read multiple languages

+No new spellcheck dictionaries or language keyboards

+New Chinese features

I was surprised Apple did not add Lao and Amharic keyboards, as the required font support has been provided for some time already.

  1. I'm thinking the Kotoeri thing has to be a bug.

I have a japanese MBP, with a physical japanese keyboard layout. If I have only Kotoeri activated it works as it should, but if I have Kotoeri + any other keyboard layout installed, the keyboard remains in the other layout no matter what, meaning the 英数/かな keys don't work, the yen sign key does nothing, etc.
As I regularly need to use both japanese and swedish layouts this is incredibly annoying - I have to go into the system preferences and add/remove the Swedish layout every time I need to use it.

  2. Does it help if you add the US or US International PC keyboard layout and switch to that before using Kotoeri? See this https://discussions.apple.com/message/23515150?ac_cid=tw123456#23515150

  3. So far, I have found that Mavericks Text to Speech voice Yuna can speak Korean, Japanese and English. Yuna is labeled as a Korean voice. Yuna's English is not so good :)
