The fonts do not work in other Office 2011 progs. like PPT,Outlook etc.
I have some screenshots. How can I send them to you?கலைமணிhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15388189164634387158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6179600510376940959.post-65220503323970196692010-12-30T09:38:48.179-07:002010-12-30T09:38:48.179-07:00Muthu -- That is a major breakthrough if correct. ...Muthu -- That is a major breakthrough if correct. Could you please send me a screen shot of the Devanagari word "hindi" typed in Mac Word 2011 (the keystrokes in Devanagari Qwerty are h - i - n -f - d- shift + i) showing the name of the font used? tom at bluesky dot org.Tom Geweckehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03947144407429196465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6179600510376940959.post-61666541142500910232010-12-30T09:16:50.685-07:002010-12-30T09:16:50.685-07:00Word in Office 2011 needs an OpenType font for Ind...Word in Office 2011 needs an OpenType font for Indic support. If you copy over any Tamil/Devanagari font from Windows, that appears to work. However, i found one minor glitch with the support for input methods (like Anjal Tamil). Keyboards (like Devanagari) appear to work fine.

The strange thing is, PPT, Excel and Outlook seem to favor AAT - which is Apple's native layout engine.Muthuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06558034174171785712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6179600510376940959.post-4518457728901484852010-12-30T07:23:03.850-07:002010-12-30T07:23:03.850-07:00Some people think the reasons are technical and th...Some people think the reasons are technical and the necessary investment in programming to add this support. Others speculate that marketing also plays a role -- i.e. that without Arabic and Indic scripts, a billion or so people can't use OS X and still be compatible with MS Office.Tom Geweckehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03947144407429196465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6179600510376940959.post-73992859876023746212010-12-30T05:05:56.604-07:002010-12-30T05:05:56.604-07:00I'm late to this blog post. While all the coursework is in English, there are research project we do which includes Arabic. While NeoOffice works for me, it is a little querky with docs I get from classmates. So I thought I should get Office 2011.
